Fume Hoods
The wide selection of chemical fume hoods are available from LabTech Supply Company, Inc. cover all implementations ranging from a high school chemistry setting through professional lab setting and industrial applications. We offer a wide range of ducted fume hoods that take the standard style of hood to a new level, but also have ductless options including the energy efficient Green Solution fume hood.

"Our biology, chemistry, compounding lab equipment can be broken down in to 3 main groups ductless fume hoods, laminar flow cabinets, and biological safety cabinets. Ductless fume hoods protect the operated from hazardous fumes, vapors, powders, biologics, etc. Laminar flow cabinets protect the “sample” by HEPA/ULPA filtering the air entering the work area and provide a clean dust free environment inside the cabinet. Biological safety cabinets do both. We have just 1 line of biological safety cabinets and they are class II A2 biosafety cabinets that can only protect the operator with HEPA filtration (powders/particulates). They are not capable of protecting the operator from hazardous fume or vapors.

BIOLOGICAL SAFETY CABINET
The Purair BIO Class II, Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs) provide a primary containment work area for life science research, cell culture processing, and other applications where protection of the user, the work product, and the environment, and mitigation of cross-contamination on the work surface are needed. Biosafety in the laboratory is critical when work involves infectious diseases and toxins, as well as in cell and tissue culturing, where product contamination must be avoided. Prevention of lab acquired infections to personnel can also be achieved by reducing potential exposure to droplets or splashes, preventing contaminants from escaping the work area.
A Biological Safety Cabinet provides a safe laboratory workspace using optimum airflow design combined with an integrated HEPA filtration system. Room air is drawn in through the intake grille on the front of the unit, then under the work surface and directed to the top of the cabinet where it passes through a HEPA filter. Negative pressure is created inside the cabinet resulting in a primary containment work area while the HEPA filtration supplies clean air to the work surface in a vertical laminar flow pattern. These airflow patterns provide an optimum air curtain on the front opening, maintaining personnel and product protection. The exhaust HEPA filter traps biohazardous particles prior to the air being exhausted back into the laboratory, preserving environmental protection.
Fume Hood FAQ
A ventilated cage used to collect and release vapors, fumes, and nanoparticles is called a chemical fume hood. Usually located at the top of the structure, the exhaust fan draws air into the hood through the ductwork that is attached to it before exhausting it into the atmosphere.
